GO2™: A Smarter Solution for Water Treatment Chlorine Dioxide Applications
When it comes to effective and reliable disinfection in wastewater treatment, water treatment chlorine dioxide has proven to be a superior alternative to traditional chlorine — especially in the form of GO2™. GO2™ acts as both a powerful disinfectant and strong oxidant, offering several key chemical advantages that enhance its performance in municipal and industrial applications.
One of GO2™’s standout qualities is its stability across a broad pH range. Unlike traditional chlorine, GO2™ does not significantly hydrolyze in water. This allows it to maintain its biocidal activity even in fluctuating water conditions, making it a more consistent and effective treatment option.
Flexible Dosage for Targeted Results
The dosage of GO2™ depends on water quality and the specific contaminants present. For general wastewater disinfection, a residual concentration of up to 5 ppm is typically adequate. When dealing with sulfide odors, between pH 5–9, GO2™ should be applied at 5.2 ppm per 1 ppm of sulfide. For phenol destruction, 1.5 ppm is effective at pH below 8, while 3.3 ppm is required at pH above 10.
Advanced Odor and Contaminant Control
Safe and Efficient Dosing Method
To generate GO2™, its two components are mixed with tap water to form a 3% chlorine dioxide solution. It should be dosed at a point in the system that allows for thorough mixing and distribution, ideally below the waterline to avoid gas loss. Avoid using GO2™ simultaneously with lime or powdered activated carbon.
To ensure accurate treatment, residual chlorine dioxide must be measured using validated methods such as the DPD-Glycine Method or Amperometric Method II, as outlined in the Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater.
Whether for disinfection, oxidation, or odor control, water treatment chlorine dioxide through GO2™ is a smart, efficient, and environmentally responsible choice.
